09/12/11

Autumn's sweet whispers
Breeze into my ear
Trees forgo memories
As they sway to & fro
Disembodied colours swirl across
Dim, cracked pavement
Last dance with one
They knew
For so few

"Don't fight it, little ones.
Death's sting is fleeting
And brings the consummation
Of a million tiny whims."

Her sweet whispers
Breathe into my ear
My sweatshirt hangs upon her skinny frame
Sleeves rolled halfway up her forearms
Our memories made
Will swirl around
My polluted brain
Forever, cleansing it from all pain
That came before

We run, we scream
Through winter's jaded soul
Our words
Freezing & falling
In the crispy,crunchy snow
Hands clasped, she says,

"It's getting colder, but
My love will keep you warm."

Uncertain, we disappear
Into night
And on the other end
We emerge, confident
Soaked in
Morning light
